Thai Acrylic Fibre Co. acquires PyroTex, an innovative German manu- facturer of flame and heat resistant engineered acrylic fibres

Hamburg, January 18, 2018 – Proventis Partners exclusively advised the founder of Hamburg-based PyroTex on the sale to Thai Acrylic Fibre Co., a group company of Aditya Birla Group.

The Transaction

Thai Acrylic Fibre Co. Ltd. (TAF), acquired all business activities and related assets of PyroTex. The founder of PyroTex, Mr. Robert Jarausch, will join the Aditya Birla Group as managing director of the newly-formed PyroTex Industries GmbH and will be responsible for the global expansion of TAF’s flame retardant (FR) fibres business.

While PyroTex has already achieved notable success in the market with its ground-breaking product that offers unique technical capabilities, the new partnership will enable the company to leverage TAF’s global sales network as well as the vast production capacity of one of the largest global acrylic fibre manufacturers. “So far, our sales activities have been limited to Europe and North America, but as part of the Aditya Birla Group, we will be able to accelerate the growth of PyroTex on a global scale in the coming years”, says Robert Jarausch.

“The acquisition of PyroTex is a very good strategic fit for TAF, as it provides the opportunity for TAF to enter the high-performance FR segment with a product having the best performance characteristics in this field”, says Thomas Varghese, Head of Aditya Birla Group’s textiles business, adding that the acquisition Is in line with TAF’s objective to continuously enhance its capabilities to produce and market value-added products.
